Character Name: Maid Marian
Fandom: Robin Hood (1973 Disney animated film)
Source: http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Maid_Marian
Character History:
*Speculation on her birth, and parents. She was born to a noble family in King Richard's court, and when they died, Richard adopted her as his niece. (Since I have no other idea as to how a lion could be related to a fox....)
The niece of King Richard, Maid Marian, grew up together with Robin Hood and they were very much in love. However she had to leave for several years, spending much time in London for unspecified reasons.
*Speculated reasons for her absence: Prince John sent her off to a 'finishing school' for manners to get her out of the way when King Richard went off to join the crusades. Why have a witness to his attempt to steal the throne? Sending her and her Lady in waiting away removes one more thing standing in his way to power.
The years go by and Marian is still very much in love with Robin. She did however worry that because of her long separation from him, that he had moved on and forgotten about her.
*More speculation here: She spent many nights awake well past dark, wondering if she would return home, only to find him in the arms of another. Klucky spends many a night up with her, trying to console the homesick girl as the years pass. Returning to Nottingham was a somewhat mixed blessing for Marian. She wanted to see Robin so badly, but with him being branded an outlaw it seemed not to be.
She had only been back in Nottingham for a short while, before Prince John used the promise of her kiss to lure Robin Hood into an archery contest. During the tournament she recognizes him instantly, and when he is revealed and to be executed, she pleads for his life.
Robin manages to escape with some help from his friends, and asks her to marry him during the ensuing chaos. She accepts, but chides him playfully about choosing a more romantic setting.
After a rather romantic walk with Robin they find their way to his camp, and join a small party with the townsfolk in celebration of their escape.
----Previous visit to the Wake was at this point in time.----
King Richard returns and pardons Robin Hood.
----Current visit to the Wake----
Robin and Marian get married and leave together for parts unknown.
End canon.
Marian's previous history in Nautilus.
(I think I managed to cover everything, but it has been awhile...)
Marian's previous visit to Nautilus was confusing, eventful and also somewhat embarrassing at times.
Having woken up in a strange place with no idea what was going on, Marian ended up being broadcast to the network accidentally.
After a couple of conversations with others on the network, most more confusing than not, and one in which she is completely terrorized by Rip, she finally gets an explanation from Lelouch that she can at least make some sense out of.
Her conversation with Ratchet helped settle her a little more, even if it felt a little strange for her to be so familiar by using his first name, rather than a title of some sort. Even with his explanations, she still felt quite lost and like she was rapidly becoming a bit of a pest.
After he pointed out a few places to avoid and some of the available housing options, Marian felt somewhat disappointed that one of the places that she could stay was completely vacant. Even if it turned out that she was dreaming, she really didn't want to be alone. Though her unease at the prospect of staying alone in an empty building, quickly turned into one of mild confusion at both the offer of a place to stay and assistance in finding the building.
A conversation with Pandora over the network helped ease her mind a little more about meeting Ratchet, since it was nice to hear that he was nice from not only another female, but someone similar to herself as well.
Needless to say her first meeting with Ratchet was more than a little awkward, as she was not expecting him to be quite so... large. Not only was he a lot bigger than she expected, she felt like a fool for not only passing out, but for also nearly being sick in him after he was kind enough to give her a ride.
Upon receiving a room to stay in, Marian promptly tossed the communication book in a drawer and hid for awhile in an attempt to forget her mortification. After a couple of days, she couldn't hide anymore and ended up meeting Basil and captain Fanzone.
Later still she wandered around the area near the med-bay trying to figure out what she could do to thank Ratchet for his help, only to be distracted by odd sounding noises.
The noise turned out to be an overcharged Jazz in vehicle mode, blasting music and creating a light show. Unfortunately for Marian, said show included a flamethrower that startled her quite badly and made her jump and yelp in surprise.
Much to her consternation and embarrassment, Jazz ends up calling her 'Kitty' and treating her much like a human would a cat, petting included. Unable to do much about her predicament, Marian decides to just suffer through it and hope no one else ever finds out about it.
If she thought things couldn't get any more embarrassing, she'd be wrong. Since Jazz decided to ask Kanji for a doll of her, then her predicament was broadcast to the entire network with an accidental video post...
She ended up getting an explanation of bending from Ginko, (Even if it didn't work and she got a squeaky cat toy instead of the apple she was trying for.) and made a quick exit after Jazz received Ratchet's 'Glare of DOOM'TM and put her back down on the ground.
Marian wandered back towards the med-bay slowly, not really wanting to see anyone. Only to run into a high Starscream, having to endure even more and somewhat rougher manhandling. Watching Starscream turn into a tiny magpie didn't do much to help her state of mind either...
After hiding in her room again for a few days, Marian's unease and the stress of being in the city was getting to her. She finally broke down and started crying during a particularly rough night, deciding that rather than wake anyone, she was going to try and go home.
It took her the rest of the night to walk to the gates, though when she got there, she hesitated for a short while. Marian ignored the crackling static energy that increased as she got closer to the gate and ended up taking a run at it, only to be badly shocked and flung away from the gates.
Unaware that her failed attempt had been broadcast to the entire network, Marian lay on the ground for a few long moments before sitting up. Staring at the gates a for a little, she then started crying silently as she realized that she wouldn't be using them to go home any time soon.
While she didn't really want to see anyone at the time, Jazz saw the network broadcast and decided she needed someone. She ends up accepting a lift from him and ends up falling asleep in his hand on the way back to her room.
Marian decides to brave the network a few days later, after becoming very frustrated with her failed attempts at bending. Anything she tries to make, ends up being a cat toy or other cat related item. Also she want's to know where the large stuffed toy that looks like Jazz came from.
Even though she tries to only send text, she ends up producing video as well. The video shows her with a growing pile of cat items, and a Jazz plush that's covered with a sheet in the background. She learned from others on the network, that the cat toys were most likely a 'joke' done by the city, as was the plush toy.
Later on Marian meets up with Jazz as Scat Cat, only she doesn't know who he is. She offers to let him stay with her as long as Ratchet is alright with it.
The least you need to know: Marian is receiving a soft reset and essentially remembers nothing of her time in nautilus, but while she may regain some of her memories over time they will be few and far between.
She may find some people, the building housing the Med-bay, and the gates that supposedly lead home somewhat familiar, though being around the latter makes her skittish for some reason. It's more a feeling of Déjà vu than any real recognition. People who have met her before will find that initially she has no memory of them other than possibly vague feelings. (Depending on what is agreed upon by the muns, she may not remember them at all, or she may remember some things eventually. I suppose it's running on a case by case basis...)Her canon has advanced in time by about a week or two. She's been having strange dreams, that make no sense, make her embarrassed and are even quite frightening at times. Though when she 'wakes up' from them, she can't recall them at all.Marian is feeling a little stressed out, but she's convinced herself that it's because of her upcoming nuptials... not because she feels like there's something wrong, like she's trapped in her own pelt, and her body is just running through the motions.Right in the middle of preparing for her wedding to Robin she walks through a door to go change her clothing, and suddenly finds herself waking up in Natulius.Character Personality:
Marian is well known throughout England for her kind and gentle nature. *Being born into gentry, she was taught from a young age to be proper and courteous, and always tries to maintain her manners. A very sweet, caring and self-sacrificing person, Marian is always eager and willing to help the less fortunate and more than willing to try and help others when she is in the position to do so.Being sent away for years did little to curb her feelings for Robin, *but it did do her a disservice and set her into a somewhat overly formal mindset when dealing with her peers. Klucky does the best she can to help her shake off that training, but when frightened or in a highly public setting she tends to revert back to overly formal speech and manners.
*Thanks in part to Klucky's influence, while Marian is a well mannered lady, she's not stiff. She enjoys dancing, playing badminton, a good laugh and having fun, you could even say she has a bit of a mischievous streak. That mischievous streak comes out to play every once in awhile, giving Skippy a kiss on the cheek, teasing Robin about the timing of his marriage proposal and hitting Trigger with a pie after he tries to shoot Robin with a crossbow.
Outgoing and sociable, Marian is always excited to meet new people and she loves to be surrounded by good company. She is quite fond of children, being more comfortable around them than adults more often than not. *They don't expect her to be a perfect lady, and she is more than willing to spend time with them, often joining them in their games.*One day, she would like to have a number of children of her own with Robin. Though in the meantime, she is quite content to have Skippy and the other children around. Quite often entertaining them and watching them for the other adults.
Normally an optimistic and cheerful woman, she tries to see the positive side of most things and follows her heart, trying to do what she feels is right, even if it may lead her into trouble. Deeply in love with Robin Hood, Marian professes her love for him and pleaded for his life when Prince John ordered him to be executed, regardless of the danger she was placing herself in by disagreeing with him.
*She is very grateful to the royal family for adopting her and giving her a good life after the deaths of her parents. Therefore, she adores King Richard as family, and finds it hard to speak against Prince John, even when she knows he is doing a poor job in leading and lacks both sympathy and empathy. She would very much like to slap Hiss on occasion, but doing so would be very impolite and unladylike and she somehow manages to suppress that urge.* In a world where all animals are people, the thought of anyone eating meat (Or flesh, as she refers to it.) Is a highly disturbing and disgusting thought to her.
Notes and assumptions*I have made a couple of assumptions as to her history before the movie, and in general to help fill in her motivations, due to lack of cannon background.
Powers:
She is of average strength for her size, and has very little in the way of extra abilities. Only a better sense of smell and hearing than a normal human, and average for a fox.
Physical Description:
(Added for people unfamiliar with her canon, since the wiki entry is rather... sparse)
Height: 3’7" (Assumed height)
Eyes: Brown
Hair/Fur: Orange/White
Age: Young adult (Old enough to be married, but still fairly young. Equivalent human age, about 24ish.)
Marian is a beautiful young vixen. She is mostly orange with cream-colored fur on her muzzle and underside, and a lighter orange around her large brown eyes. Her tail is fluffy and well-kept. Normally she is usually dressed in soft pinks and purples, and her ears are usually hidden by a double-horned headdress and pink veil.

First person: [Accidental Video / Testing possible journal device.] ((Trying to decide if I should give her something new, or stick with a book/journal.))
Hmm? [Something glimmers on the ground, half hidden under a bush and it happens to catch Marian's attention.] What is that? [She crouches down and pushes away a branch for a better look] What is a mirror doing out here?[Marian picks up the rather odd looking rectangular mirror looking... thing and pokes at it. It really is quite beautiful, wit
h it's burnshed silver frame that has engravings of vines and flowers on it.]How odd. Why would someone leave such an expensive and fragile thing out here? It doesn't look like it's been out here that long... I wonder if someone lost it?[She drops the 'mirror' and yelps in surprise as an image of a face that's not hers appears in the reflective surface and starts talking to her.]What is going on... is this some sort of sorcery? [She finds a stick and pokes at the mirror.]Are you stuck in the mirror? Do you need help? How did you get in there?Third Person:It was a clear, quiet night and Marian sighed as she fidgeted while twisting the hem of her dress in an attempt to expend some of her nervous energy.Shaking her head she began to pace the floor and tried to find something else to think about, but it was no use. Friar Tuck was to be hung at dawn as a traitor to the crown and there was nothing she could do to help. Robin and Little John had set out on a rescue mission. While here she sat, hiding in Sherwood forest when almost everyone was either in the prison or gone out on the rescue. She had wanted to go as well, but what could she really do? Run away? Perhaps she could throw another pie? She let out a small huff of frustration and then sighed once more. She felt so useless, it was still hours until dawn and even longer before she would know if everyone was alright. Glancing over to where Kluckly was sound asleep, Marian found herself a little envious that she could sleep at a time like this, but there was no point in waking her. At least one of them should be able to rest.Sleep would not find Marian tonight, for how could she sleep while the one she loved was risking his life? Part of her wished the dawn would come quickly, while the other hoped it never would.Rather than start pacing again, Marian wandered out into the clear crisp night air and whispered quietly to the breeze “Oh Robin. Please do be careful and come back to me....”After wandering the clearing for over an hour, Marian found a tree to lean against and sat on the ground before taking a deep breath and watching the sky through it's branches in silence. Never had the coming of the dawn seemed so far away, or so frightening.
